Savings and gold bring deposits, gold and savings goals into one tab. What stands out is the live 99.9 gold price, and that the app always says when the price shown is old or only an estimate, instead of letting you think it is a real current price.

Total savings

The card at the top of the Tiết kiệm (Savings) tab shows total savings, split into two parts: the value of gold and money (cash, bank deposits, investments). When there is no real gold price yet, the gold value is clearly marked as an estimate.

Money savings

Record each deposit or withdrawal under one of three types: cash, bank deposit, investment. Each entry has an amount, a date and a note, and can be deleted if you entered it by mistake.

Gold

Each gold holding records:

  • Gold type: 99.9 gold, 18K gold or 14K gold.
  • Shape: bar, plain ring, necklace or other.
  • Number of chỉ (the unit gold is commonly sold in Vietnam) and the purchase price (dong per chỉ), plus the purchase date and a note. When adding, you can tap "Dùng giá thị trường hiện tại" (use the current market price) to pre-fill the purchase price.

For each holding the app computes the current value and the profit or loss (as an amount and as a percentage of what you paid). The gold card summarises four figures: chỉ held, value, profit or loss, and cost basis.

The 99.9 gold price

The app uses the 99.9 gold buy-back price as its reference, because that is what you would receive if you sold. The price does not come straight to the app; it goes through the household's own proxy server, so the price source's API key is never inside the app.

  • Refresh. The app refreshes the price every 30 minutes while open, and when you pull to refresh. Concurrent requests share one call.
  • Server cache. The server keeps the price it just fetched for 5 minutes. If the price source does not respond, the server returns the cached copy flagged as stale, but only if that copy is no more than 6 hours old.
  • 18K and 14K gold have no price of their own: the app derives them from the 99.9 price at 75% and 58%.
  • Price status. A small line under the gold price says what state the price is in: "Cập nhật lúc ..." (updated at) when the price is fresh, "Giá cũ" (old price) when it is over 6 hours old or the server says it is serving a cached copy, "Không cập nhật được" (could not update) when the latest refresh failed (with the time of the price still shown), and "Chưa có giá thị trường" (no market price yet) when a price has never been fetched. In that last state the app values gold at a fixed reference level, labels the value as an estimate and reminds you that it is not a market price.

Gold price alert

Set a target price (million dong per chỉ) and a direction: alert when the price falls below or rises above it. When the price reaches the target, the app sends a "Cảnh báo giá vàng 99.9" (99.9 gold price alert) notification.

  • The alert fires once and then turns itself off, so it does not nag you.
  • The alert fires only for a freshly fetched live price, never for an old or estimated one.
  • The price field accepts both million dong per chỉ and a full dong amount.
  • The alert is stored on your device; each person sets their own.

Savings goals

A goal has a name, an icon, a target amount, the amount saved so far and an optional deadline.

  • A progress bar shows the percentage reached, the amount still missing and the days left until the deadline.
  • Tap "Nạp thêm" (add funds) to add an amount to a goal.
  • When the saved amount reaches the target, the goal switches to "Đã hoàn thành" (completed).

Where the data lives

Money savings, gold and goals are stored on your own device and are not part of the shared ledger that syncs between members. See Family split and sync.
