Quick Start
A quick guide from creating a backup → downloading it → restoring it on a new server.
Step 1: Destination server requirements
| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| PHP | 7.4 | 8.0+ |
| MySQL/MariaDB | 5.6 | 5.7+ |
| Free disk | 2× the site size | 3× to leave room for extraction |
| Memory limit | 256 MB | 512 MB+ |
| Max execution time | 60s | 300s+ |
| PHP extensions | zip, openssl, mbstring | all of them |
Step 2: Create the backup on the source site
In the WordPress admin of the source site:
- SL Migrations → Packages → Create New
- Name the package → Next
- Scanner checks the environment - review the warnings and fix any errors
- Build - the plugin compresses the files and dumps the database
- When the build finishes, download both files: the archive and installer.php
Step 3: Prepare the destination site
- Create an empty database on the destination server
- Create a database user with full privileges (
ALL PRIVILEGES) on that database - Note down the host / database name / username / password
- Make sure the web root folder is empty or contains only the installer file (the safest approach)
Step 4: Upload and run the installer
Upload installer.php and the archive file to the destination site's web root (via FTP, SFTP, cPanel File Manager or rsync). Then open:
https://site-dich.com/installer.php
The installer runs through 4 steps:
- Deployment - choose how to extract the archive
- Install Database - enter the database details you prepared
- Update Data - the installer replaces the old URL with the new one
- Test Site - check that the new site is up and running correctly
Step 5: Clean up after installing
After step 4 reports success, the installer deletes itself, along with the archive, logs and temporary files. Check the web root folder again to make sure nothing is left behind - see the list of files to remove.
