# Choosing stones by element

Part of the doc set: [IGA (Infinity Gems)](https://phatdev.net/en/docs/iga.md)

> How suitable elements are assigned to 62 stone types and shown to customers.

## Rules
- Each color belongs to an element. A stone of element E suits **people of element E** (same element) and **people of the element that E generates** (generating cycle).
- The generating cycle: Kim (Metal) generates Thuỷ (Water), Water generates Mộc (Wood), Wood generates Hoả (Fire), Fire generates Thổ (Earth), Earth generates Metal.
- Examples: a red ruby (Fire) suits Fire and Earth; a golden rutilated quartz (Earth) suits Earth and Metal; a blue sapphire (Water) suits Water and Wood.
- Only "suits" is written, never "avoid" for any individual stone.

## Five-element color table
| Element (Mệnh) | Own colors | Generating colors |
|---|---|---|
| Kim (Metal) | white, grey, silver, metallic sheen | deep yellow, earth brown |
| Mộc (Wood) | green, deep green, moss green | black, blue |
| Thuỷ (Water) | black, blue, sea blue | white, grey, silver |
| Hoả (Fire) | red, pink, orange, purple | green |
| Thổ (Earth) | yellow, brown, earth brown | red, pink, orange, purple |

## Data and tools
- The element table for 62 stone types lives in a single data file; some gemstones were confirmed by the shop to suit every element.
- The command `wp iga menh apply` reassigns the "Mệnh hợp" (Suitable element) attribute on products, with a dry-run mode (`--dry-run`) and a backup before writing.
- The internal page `/chon-menh/` lets advisors choose the suitable elements for each stone type, saving on click.

## Customer side
The **Chọn đá theo mệnh** (Choose stones by element) block on the home page: enter the day, month, year and hour of birth to see the result (element, five-element chart, Tứ trụ or Four Pillars) and the stones that suit it.
