# Card wallet and shared limits

Part of the doc set: [CreditMate](https://phatdev.net/en/docs/creditmate.md)

> Many banks and cards, credit lines counted once, statement dates and due dates.

**Cards** is where CreditMate gathers all of your credit cards: several banks, several cards, with the limit, payment due date and amount due for each. Its main strength is how it treats shared limits, which spreadsheets and many other apps get wrong.

## Several banks, several cards

The catalog covers about 60 Vietnamese banks and finance companies. To add a card, choose a bank, give it a nickname and enter the last 4 digits; the "More information" section holds optional fields such as the statement closing day. When you type the first few digits, the app recognizes the card type but does not keep those digits.

Each card is drawn in a bank-style design that tilts in 3D and has a glossy effect. Full card numbers, CVV and other payment details never appear in Cards; they exist only in the encrypted vault, and only if you choose to save them.

## A shared limit is counted once

Many banks give several cards one common limit. As a hypothetical example: three cards share a single limit of 150,000,000 VND. CreditMate stores that limit once, at the limit-group level, and does not multiply it by the number of cards. Your total limit is therefore the real figure, not an inflated 450,000,000 VND.

In Cards these cards sit in one group with a "?" button explaining that the limit is counted once. You can create groups, move cards between them, and merge or split groups when a bank changes how it grants limits. For foreign-currency cards, the limit total is split by currency; the app never adds two currencies together without a sourced exchange rate.

## Statement closing date and due date

The app keeps four dates apart: purchase date, posting date, statement closing date and payment due date. They are different and are never mixed.

- When a statement exists, the card shows "Due Oct 25 · 3 days left" with the amount due.
- When there is no statement yet but you entered a monthly due day, the card shows "Estimated due" and notes that the date is inferred.
- When the amount is not known, the card shows "Amount due not confirmed" rather than a 0.
- A statement period that has been issued does not prove it was paid. "No payment recorded" is not the same as "unpaid".

The group closest to its due date moves to the top of the list, and the app sends a reminder at 9:00 on the bank's time.

## Available limit and balance

The available limit is a figure you enter from the bank app or from a screenshot, together with the time it was observed. If there is none, the card shows "Not updated yet · Enter now". A figure older than 7 days is labelled "Outdated". When every card in a group has a figure, Cards adds a "Balance per bank app" line; if only some cards have one, the line says so ("only k of n cards") instead of adding up an incomplete total.

A loan that sits on top of a card limit can also be marked as using up that limit, so the available limit reflects reality.

## Archive instead of delete

A card or account that has transactions is never deleted. You archive it: the card disappears from the active list but its history stays intact, so reconciliation and reports do not lose data. Only a card with no transactions at all can be removed completely.
